Spring baby - newborn shoot

Newborns - so special little ones! I usually arrive to a newborn shoot with nothing else than myself and the camera. I do have my flash but I only take it out if it really is too dark. I don't carry around lots of props for the little ones - I think that I will get to know them when I arrive and will use the special items that parents have already prepared for them.

On this day I had no hurry anywhere so lots of time to chat with mum and dad and settle the baby to sleep. A bright day so all done with natural light with my 50mm f1.4 and (my new favourite with newborns) 100mm f2.8 macro.

This is what I have been working on today - I just had to share these and the rest you will see later :). Big and small, father and son.

When I walked into the house of this lovely family, everything was just so easy -- also because I let go of the thought that I have to get a certain shot in a certain way. To have a baby lie on the bed, eyes closed and sleeping, hands under the chin. That is what I usually do with babies and of course everything else that goes on...but what if the baby doesn't sleep and settle? I just realized it during this session. It doesn't matter. I'm there to see the baby and the love of the parents towards that little tiny creature. I don't have to make the baby do anything, just photograph the love. And I love these. More to come tomorrow.

Newborn cuteness. The first 2 weeks are so precious! This little one was such a good little model. Hope I didn't scare the little one with my big black thing in front of my face :). Shot with Canon 5d MkII and my Canon 50mm f1.4 lens.

Vastasyntyneen ihanuutta. Ensimmäiset kaksi viikkoa ovat niin erityisiä! Tämä pikkuinen oli niin hyvä valokuvamalli. Toivottavasti en ihan peläyttänyt häntä isolla mustalla koneella kasvojeni edessä :). Canon 5d MkII ja Canon 50mm f1.4.

I always have time (and make time) for newborns. They are so cute and sleepy and beautiful :). I usually do the newborn sessions at your home so the little one doesn't have to travel anywhere. Always time to feed or cuddle or change clothes :). Shot with my favourite baby lens Canon 50mm f1.4.

Minulla on aina aikaa (ja jos ei ole niin teen sitä) vastasyntyneille. Niin ihania, unisia ja kauniita :). Teen vastasyntyneiden kuvaukset yleensä aina asiakkaan kotona, silloin pikkuisen ei tarvitse matkailla mihinkään. Ja aina on aikaa syöttää, halia tai vaihtaa vaatteita :).
